Monroe Street is the Place to Be

Experience the magic of Monroe Street on the first Friday evening of each month. The participating boutique shops and retail stores will be open late so you can enjoy all that our unique slice of Madison has to offer. And don't forget to plan on dinner and drinks in our many locally owned restaurants. From shopping pop-ups to ice cream and free outdoor movies, there’s a little something for everyone.

Summer Fun! On the First Fridays in June through September, Music by the Water, sponsored by the Dudgeon Monroe Neighborhood Association and Wingra Boats, takes place by Lake Wingra. Stop by Wingra Park to enjoy Kids Music and Activities from 5-6 pm, provided by the Monroe Street Art Center; dance to a live band from 6-8 pm; and browse an array of vendors from about 5-8 pm.

5:00 - 7:00 During “First Friday on Monroe Street,” Orange Tree stays open late with many of their business neighbors. They select a non-profit each month for First Friday on Monroe Street, and donate 20% of their sales to them. For June they've selected The Doug Flutie Foundation, a charity nominated by a staff member because of its focus on creating supported opportunities for those will autism to live socially, emotionally, and psychically fulfilling lives.
